Read more I am a researcher at the Instituto de Investigaciones en Salud (INISA), Universidad de Costa Rica, working in environmental virology and wastewater-based epidemiology under a One Health approach. My research focuses on the molecular surveillance of viral pathogens in aquatic environments, particularly in tropical and low- and middle-income settings. Recently, our group reported the first detection of hepatitis E virus (HEV) in wastewater in Costa Rica and the first environmental report in Central America. I can contribute expertise in wastewater surveillance, molecular detection methods, and environmental monitoring strategies for emerging viral pathogens.
